#CamvsCovid – 1-4 May, a virtual 72-hour Social Hackathon for innovative responses to current challenges
The Corona virus has confronted communities around the world with a common, transformational challenge. In awareness of the trying consequences this crisis has caused and will be causing, we see opportunities for solidarity and collective action to develop novel solutions. #CamvsCovid is a student-led initiative by The Hack Cambridge Foundation and the MPhil in Technology Policy at the Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS). With our 72h social hackathon, we want to harness the creative energy of the Cambridge ecosystem to seize these opportunities, and to tackle some of the problems associated with the spread of COVID-19.
The event will take place virtually on the weekend from 1-4 May. We will offer a mixture of workshops and regular mentoring sessions to facilitate your team’s innovation process. We encourage you to come up with any type of solution (coded or non-coded), as long as you consider the societal context. Your ideas will be assessed through two types of deliverables: a short pitch video and a 750-word write-up. The latter will undergo a review process and be published in a CJBS journal. We are aiming to use the Cambridge network to distribute our solutions. This time, the challenge is no case study – we are trying to address real problems, and we want to have a real impact. Together, we can make a difference!
Applications are now open, so team up with a couple of friends and sign up together, or sign up as an individual and we will allocate you to one of the teams. Technical knowledge is not a prerequisite – we welcome people from all backgrounds! Visit camvscovid.co.uk for more information.
We also have positions open for those with experience looking to take on mentorship roles! More info on mentoring can be found in the pdf at this link:
Thanks a lot!
